"I'm so happy for you!' I squealed over the phone. In truth, I was genuinely thrilled for my friend... but I felt a lump in my throat. Once I hung up, I felt my face in my hands as I sat alone in the break room. I was glad for the rare moment of solitude at work because a tear or two might have escaped.
When is it my turn?
It seems like a lot of my single mom friends are now finding someone special in their lives... and here I am on the couch binging on Oreos and Netflix... not one of my finer moments. I am essentially having a pity party for myself, but tomorrow I will wake up and put on my big girl panties. I will get my kids to school and go to work. I will remember that I have lots of friends and family members who love me and are cheering me on. I will focus on my own school. I will focus on ministry opportunities... I will focus on loving the people in my life.
I will remember that my Father's plans (and timing) are perfect and I should keep my eyes on Him.
"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)
