It's hard adjusting to single life again after being married for over seven years. My identity was so wrapped up in my husband and children, that I kind of lost myself for a while. I've determined to spend this time rediscovering myself and made a list of things I've always wanted to do or things that bring me out of my comfort zone.
1. Take myself on a date.
2. Dress cute again. Build up a fashionable wardrobe. It's okay to look pretty.
3. Take up painting and knitting again.
4. Teach myself to play the guitar.
5. Go on a road trip... or several.
6. Take the kids on an adventure (like to an Asian market) and try new foods. Buy something weird.
7. Go on a "dream date" with some of my girlfriends.
8. Change my hairstyle. Be adventurous and go short!
9. Go camping and hiking.
10. Take a break from social media once in a while.
11. Read a new book every month.
12. Throw lots of dinner parties and game nights!
13. Make new friends.
14. Set aside money to do something nice for others. When I see an opportunity, go for it!
15. Do something that scares me, like singing in front of people... or wearing a swimsuit.
16. Publish some of my poetry and songs. Find a friend to help me write music for those songs (because I'm really terrible at that).
17. Learn sign language.
18. Volunteer in the community. Adopt a fire department. Help out at a food pantry.
19. Get rid of junk. Clean out the stuff I don't need from your past life. New beginnings!
20. Journal again. Get some of that grief off of your chest (in a healthy way).
